What it takes to really know something - beliefs, good reasons, where knowledge comes from, evidence, whom to trust, how we fool ourselves, and doubt done well.
How do you know? You know your own name, the way home, that the Earth is round, and that the shop opens at nine - but how? This course is about the difference between knowing something and only believing it. It is for anyone, with no maths and no symbols. Short lessons start with what a belief is and why a lucky guess is not knowledge, then look at where knowledge comes from - your senses, your memory, what other people tell you, and working things out - and at evidence, and how sure it lets you be. Then come the questions of whom to trust, the ways we fool ourselves, and doubt done well - saying "I don't know", and changing your mind when the evidence changes. It follows Logic Level 1, but you can start here. You need only a notebook and the world around you.
