Powers
A power is a short way to write multiplying the same number again and again: 2³ = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8, the small raised number counting the copies. To the power 2 is called squared and to the power 3 cubed, after the shapes they make. Powers grow fast, and the powers of ten, 10, 100, 1,000, are the places of our numbers.
