Decimals
Place value carries on to the right of the ones: tenths, then hundredths, each ten times smaller. A decimal point marks where the ones end, so 2.7 is 2 ones and 7 tenths. 0.5 is a half and 0.25 a quarter. Decimals are compared place by place from the left.
